Why Your Business Needs Email Marketing
EPISODE 5 SHOW NOTES
I’m diving into one of my favorite topics today-email marketing!
I absolutely love email marketing, and it’s really my bread and butter when it comes to the work I do for my clients. It was the first service I offered when I started my business, and it’s definitely gained popularity over the last few years. If you’re a small business owner, you may be wondering if you need email marketing or not, so I’m excited to share more about it with you here!
In today’s episode, I’m talking more about why your business needs email marketing.
Some of my favorite email marketing stats. By 2025, the amount of people expected to be using email marketing is 4.6 billion-more than half of the world’s population! Welcome emails tend to have a higher open rate (almost 70% when you’re sending to people who sign up to join your list. If you send 3 abandoned cart emails (once you enable that on your website), this can result in 69% more orders than if you only send 1 email. Lastly, 49% of consumers say they would like to hear from their favorite brands on a weekly basis.
How email marketing is different from social media. One of my favorite things about email marketing is that it’s a level playing field. No matter the size of your business (whether you’re a large corporation or a Mom and Pop shop), you can’t pay, or even automatically get yourself into someone’s inbox. You also OWN your email list, which is not the case with your social media platforms. If something happens to your social media accounts, you unfortunately can’t do much about that. Social media may seem ‘hot’ right now, but email marketing can actually have a higher ROI overall.
Important guidelines to keep in mind when utilizing email marketing and your email list. You can’t just automatically add someone to your email list without their permission (it’s actually against the law). You don’t want people reporting you as spam. Whichever type of email platform you choose to use, make sure they have a good history and actually follow important rules and guidelines with this.
Why regular communication with your email list matters. People who are joining your email list are choosing to do so because they WANT to. About 60% of people say they want to hear from their favorite businesses and brands on a weekly basis, so you shouldn’t feel like you’re ‘spamming’ them if you’re emailing them on a regular basis. No, you don’t need to send an email every day, but weekly or bi-weekly is great. Ultimately, you want to stay top of mind for people, so make sure you’re connecting with them via email.
How I help my clients with email marketing that is unique to them and their businesses. Whether it’s classes, 1-1 coaching, or you want me to totally take over your email marketing, I have a variety of options when it comes to working together.
Bottom line-email marketing IS something your business needs.
Honestly, I don’t think enough people are utilizing email marketing when it comes to their businesses. When people are choosing to join your email list, they WANT to hear from you - you shouldn’t be afraid to email them consistently (however that looks for you and your particular business).
Email marketing is clearly something I’m passionate about, and I hope I was able to help you understand WHY your business needs it. If email marketing is something you want to do and you need more help with, reach out to me, and we’ll figure out the best option for you and your business!
